Think all BTO layouts are “the same”?
One of the biggest “issue” homeowners have with BTOs, or newly MOP-ed resale flats, is the layout.
It is too “standard”.
At most I knock down one wall and make the living room bigger.
Or I combine the 2nd room and the master to create an enlarged master with a walk-in wardrobe.
So we wanted to share this interesting and functional BTO layout that we recently filmed!
Watch our tiktok channel if you lazy to read.
This is a 4-room BTO that was recently completed. Steven and his wife as 2nd-time homeowners, were super clear with the design layout that they wanted, having learnt from their 1st reno.
Right off the bat told us “Chris, we’re not Gen Z—we know what we want. Just find me someone who knows their shit. Design, we’ll settle ourselves.”
And this is what they did.
They knocked down both bedroom 2 and 3, and converted it into their living room.
The original living room was converted into a common room.
The end result is a dumbbell layout that is extremely efficient for many homeowners.
Final Reconfigured Floor Plan
This clever swap means they now have a centralised and large living room, with direct line-of-sight from the kitchen.
This space clearly segments their lifestyle too:
Master room for rest
Living room for communal
Common room for work (for the Mister)

The key point we wanted to share was that there are still different ways of doing up your place.
And if you wanna copy this go ahead! It’s really efficient!
