Dear IDs, Punctuality is a Virtue
Let’s talk about something that sounds small but possibly one of the biggest and most important indicators in the renovation industry: punctuality.
Watch our tiktok channel if you lazy to read.
You book a meeting with your ID - 2pm sharp.
2pm comes. You’re there. They’re not.
You call. No answer. You text. No reply.
You start wondering: Did I just get ghosted by my ID? do they even want this job?
Punctuality is a Strong Indicator
Honestly, if you’re not interested in the project, there are many many IDs out there lining up who are more than willing to take over.
From experience, punctuality is one of the leading indicators on the ID’s project management skills.
In renovation, it is never just about design. Project management is arguably even more important.
Can you imagine your design and render all come out nice nice but during the actual execution phase, everything starts getting delayed and you have no end in sight?
Of course, we are only human and life is unpredictable.
One time late? Maybe emergency, it happens.
Two times? Your warning sign should start flashing.
Three times? Sorry, that’s a pattern - and this is even before signing with the ID.
But then what about homeowners being late?
It happens.
But from a service standpoint, IDs can’t be the one that “initiate” this lateness.
Subsequently if you do feel that the homeowner might be too difficult to deal with, we think it is perfectly fair that IDs reject the homeowner. But it is not right for the IDs to “start” this.
TLDR
First impression counts. In reno, it sets the tone and expectations for everything else and the other stakeholders.
If your ID is perpetually late, dump them.
Punctuality isn’t an add-on, it’s a preview of your reno journey and is bare minimum.
